Mike Taranto is a New York City based singer-songwriter performing his own style of guitar driven rock & roll. His music draws from a unique fusion of influences; Folk to Funk, New York to Nashville, New Orleans to San Juan.
He first gained notoriety in the late eighties as lead singer for the a cappella group JQ and the Bandits. The band was featured in a series of Levi's 501 commercials and on MTV, recorded the album "Bandits of Love," and toured worldwide, playing over 3,000 shows in 5 years.
Mike formed the band The Last Call in 1998. Ranging from full-blown electric rock and roll to more intimate acoustic flavors, the band has tailored itself to performing both live and in the studio. The last six months have seen the completion of Mike's debut album," Nothing Up My Sleeve." Featuring songs produced by George G. Recile, Mike Lattanzi, Marlon Graves, and by Mike himself, the album combines the best of both his solo acoustic work as well as performances with The Last Call.
